YELP at CHS gets started

Interested in water, wildlife, or environmental justice in Buffalo? The Young Environmental Leaders Program (YELP) is coming to City Honors.

What YELP is

YELP is Buffalo Niagara Waterkeeper's program for high school students. Students learn about local environmental issues and the solutions being worked on in Western New York, from the people doing the work.

The program includes:

• Workshops and field trips with environmental experts and advocates
• Water quality monitoring and macroinvertebrate sampling in local creeks
• Paddling local waterways, touring green infrastructure, and hiking nature preserves

College credit

YELP students earn college credit for completing the program.

When

YELP at CHS begins in the spring. Applications will be available then. Meeting and field trip dates are not set yet, and they will be posted in this log as soon as they are.

What to do now

Nothing is due yet. Students who want a heads up when applications open can email Mr. Sajdak or stop by the STARS Science room.
